David Patton

ADULT AND OLDER ADULT CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

David initially trained as a psychologist at the University of New South Wales and the University of Sydney. He commenced his career as a Psychologist and became a Senior Psychologist with the Royal Australian Air Force. He was then selected for a personnel management leadership program by the Australian Public Service Board and furthered his career undertaking roles in human resources, training and development, consulting and as a psychologist. He worked in both the private and public sectors and, prior to returning to his original vocation as a psychologist, was a senior human resources executive for many years performing national and international roles in a large corporate multinational.

In recent years he has undertaken post graduate studies in clinical psychology. In his Master of Psychology (Clinical) degree he undertook specialist subjects in Geropsychology, as well as a clinical placement at the Healthy Brain Ageing Unit, Brain and Mind Research Institute at the University of Sydney. His master’s thesis was a study of self reported cognitive complaints in older adults.

David is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia as a Psychologist (PSY0001336219) with approved area of practice - clinical psychology. He lives and practices in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales. His primary professional interests are helping people in the community who may be experiencing a diverse range of mental health issues. He has a special interest in older adult psychology including assessment for mood disorders, memory loss and dementia as well as cognitive testing to assess cognitive functioning for a range of conditions. He recently completed a Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis with the Australian Society of Hypnosis and increasingly integrates hypnosis into his practice.

 In addition to his recent up-to-date clinical training he is able to leverage his extensive background as a senior human resources and employee relations executive to provide a range of services to individuals and organisations such as coaching and employee development, grievance and complaint handing, workplace investigations and strategic HR advice.
